Our lifetime installation warranty — in plain English.
“Lifetime warranty” appears on almost every window company’s website in this market, and almost none of them tell you what it actually means. Here is exactly what ours covers, what it does not, and what to do if something ever goes wrong.
You get two warranties, and they cover different things
This is the single most misunderstood thing about window warranties, and the reason so many homeowners feel let down later. Understanding the split protects you — with us or with anyone else.
1. Our installation warranty
This covers how the product was fitted — our workmanship. If something goes wrong because of the way we installed it, we come back and fix it. This is the warranty we control, and it lasts for the life of your ownership.
2. The manufacturer’s product warranty
This covers the product itself — the window, door or shutter as manufactured. Windows and entrance doors are built by Seal Tech in Concord, Ontario. Patio doors are built by Vista. Shutters are built by Vinyl Windows Fashion. Each carries its own manufacturer warranty with its own terms and duration.
We hand you the documentation for both and walk you through them before you sign anything. If a company will not show you the product warranty at quote stage, ask why.
Why the split matters
Say your sealed unit fogs up in year eight. That is a product issue — the manufacturer’s warranty governs it, and the terms and duration are theirs, not ours.
Say you get a draft along the bottom of the same window. That is almost certainly an installation issue — ours, covered, no expiry.
Either way, call us first. We will identify which warranty applies and handle the manufacturer side on your behalf rather than handing you a phone number and wishing you luck.
What our workmanship warranty covers
If any of the following happens because of how we installed your window or door, we return and correct it.
| Issue | Installation warranty |
|---|---|
| Drafts or air infiltration from improper sealing | Covered |
| Water entry caused by installation error | Covered |
| Frame misalignment or settling from improper fit | Covered |
| Insulation or caulking gaps around the frame | Covered |
| Trim and casing failure attributable to installation | Covered |
| Hardware operation issues caused by installation | Covered |
| Sealed unit failure or fogging between panes | Manufacturer warranty |
| Frame, sash or hardware manufacturing defects | Manufacturer warranty |
| Glass breakage from external impact | Not covered |
| Damage from storms, hail or other extreme weather | Not covered |
| Damage from modification or repair by others after install | Not covered |
| Normal wear on moving hardware over time | See manufacturer terms |

Warranty FAQ
What does “lifetime” actually mean?
It means there is no expiry date on our installation workmanship coverage for as long as you own the home. It does not mean every possible issue with the window is covered forever — product matters fall under the manufacturer’s warranty, which has its own terms and duration. Anyone claiming a single lifetime warranty covering absolutely everything is glossing over that split.
I had windows installed a few years ago and something has changed. Is it too late?
Call us. If it is workmanship-related, there is no expiry on the installation warranty. If it turns out to be a product issue, we will tell you honestly and help you pursue it with the manufacturer.
Can I get the warranty in writing before I commit?
Yes, and you should ask this of every company you are considering. We provide the written installation warranty and the manufacturer product warranty documentation at quote stage, not after you have signed. If any installer will not show you both in advance, treat that as an answer.
Do you charge to come out for warranty work?
Covered installation warranty work is carried out at no charge to you. If a visit turns out to be something outside coverage — impact damage, for example, or work done by another trade — we will tell you before doing anything and quote it separately.
What if I sell my house?
Ask us at quote stage and we will confirm the transfer terms in writing for your specific job. A documented, professionally installed window package under warranty is worth mentioning to buyers either way.
Who do I actually speak to?
Us. Royalty is a GTA-based, owner-operated business and the number on this page is the number that answers. Our installers are named in our Google reviews because our customers deal with the same people throughout.
